SPIRIT Program

What is the after school SPIRIT program?

A program designed to help students start on their homework, get remediation in core academic classes, and enjoy various extra-curricular activities such as: photography, arts & crafts, computer technology, cheerleading/dance, team sports (intramurals), cooking, sign language, scrapbooking, Spanish, drawing, chorus, and etc.

Does the program cost anything?

The program is a grant funded program and is free for the students to join. The program also provides a snack for all students present.

What time does the program start?

The first day of the SPIRIT program for 2011-2012 school year is Monday, August 22, 2011. It will run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Pick-up and bus dismissal will be 6:00pm.

Is transportation provided?

Yes, bus transportation is provided for the students who already ride a bus to school. The students will need to fill out a separate bus form for the after school program, because the routes and drivers may be different then the regular school day. The bus routes and forms will be available the first day of the program, otherwise contact transportation at the district office. For your child's bus route, please click the link below. It will take you to another page where you can find your child's drop-off location and drop-off time.

What is the discipline procedure for the program?

There will be a "zero-tolerance" policy for students who choose not to behave. The same rules apply in the after school program that apply during the regular school day.

Who runs the activities provided in the program?

Several teachers from the school run the activities for the program. This is a great opportunity for the students to meet other teachers at the school and interact with them in a different way.

If you are interested in having your student participate in the SPIRIT program, please pick up a form from the front office and fill it out completely. You may return it to the front office or have your student return it to their first period teacher.

If you have any more questions regarding the program contact the front office.
